Sonic the Hedgehog and all the rest of SEGAs great cast of characters hit the road again in this sequel to the hit racing game. The loading screens have the words "Sonic Says" accompanying Sonic.Sumo Digital have since apologised profusely to the original artist. As a result of this error, this marks the video game debut of Sonic Underground's cast. Sonic Team noticed the error and demanded a fix, to which it was removed in the PC version, although the Wii version retains the image due a lack of update features on the console. This was meant to be official Amy Rose artwork, but due to an error the wrong pink hedgehog was placed into the artwork. Sumo Digital mistakenly used a placeholder image of Sonia the Hedgehog from Sonic Underground fan art by deviantARTist, RianaLD.Many other characters were planned for this title but didn't make it into the final title include Vyse from Skies of Arcadia(some issues with his vehicle looking right prevented his inclusion), Gilius Thunderhead from Golden Axe(even getting as far as getting a model made, but like Vyse the vehicle would not work correctly), Tom-Tom from Wonder Boy (Confusion over the Wonder Boy license prevented it however), Nei from Phantasy Star(Unknown reason for abandonment), Segata Sanshiro (rights to his likeness complicated this addition), Ristar(who at least got a cameo), NiGHTs (who ended up as the game's flagman) and ToeJam and Earl(An agreement with the rights owner could not be reached in time). With these SEGA miles players can purchase unlockable characters: Players can collect points known as SEGA Miles from completing Grand Prix races, Single races and Missions in the Mission Mode. ![]() The following characters are unlocked from the start: Items can be picked up by the player to either increase their speed, attack their opponents or shield themselves from incoming attacks. This is how I got to know most of the tracks on this game, before I began racing on "Grand Prix". For starters of the game: Before going to "Grand Prix" and "World Tour", I can recommend you to practice on Time Attack and Single Race. Actually, you'll have to win a certain amount of stars to unlock characters like: Shadow the Hedgehog, Vyse, Pudding, Joe Musashi and the real life driver Danica Patrick. However, the more difficulty you take on a certain challenge (from Easy to Expert), the more stars you get to unlock more challenges and characters. There you don't only do the standard racing, but here you'll get other challenges to complete, like Drift Challenge, Traffic Challenge, Pursuit, Versus, and more. One of the main features in this game is a mode called "World Tour". The Techno-like background music is also funny and cool as well. It is funny to see how the characters' vehicle can transform into hovercraft, plane or car, depending on the race track. And of course there are tracks and characters to be unlocked. I've even won gold trophies on the regular "Grand Prix". And try to not fall off the race track as much as possible. And you race in many funny tracks, which many of them have obstacles you'll have to avoid. And I found this game to be a great fun, and is pretty similar to the Mario Kart-franchise You race and use weapons against your rivals in order to get into 1st place. I got the Wii U-game for Christmas 2013, together with "Super Mario 3D World". Surprisingly, you can even play as Ralph from Disney's "Wreck-It Ralph". Many of these characters are popular Sega characters, hence the fact this game is made by Sega. In this game you can play as many of the popular characters like Sonic, Knuckles, Dr. "Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed" is a racing game, made by Sega and released for multiple platforms like Wii U, PlayStation 3, XBox and Microsoft Windows. ![]()
